ABOUT ANIMATRONICS
Animatronic is the key word in what we build here at Poison Halloween Props. Its what gives the monsters life. It makes them move fast or slow, Violent or Slow and ghost like. The term "Audio-Animatronics" was first used commercially by Disney in 1961, was filed as a trademark in 1964, and was registered in 1967.
Disney initially developed animatronics technology, but other film companies, including Poison Halloween Props, have added refinements to the construction and programming of animatronics, and the field is constantly improving. Some animatronic creatures may have a few simple movements and a sound recording, but more complex ones can be programmed to perform specific actions. Engineers who work with animatronics are also striving to make the technology seem more lifelike with the addition of highly flexible joints, realistic skin, and meticulous special effects.
Long before digital effects appeared, animatronics was making cinematic history. Think "Jaws or "E.T.". Through the precision, creativeness of their creators, animatronic creatures often seem as real to us as their flesh-and-blood counterparts.
What exactly is an animatronic device? Basically, an animatronic device is a mechanized puppet. It may be preprogrammed or remotely controlled. The device may only perform a limited range of movements or it may be incredibly versatile.
